Background

The Mother’s Choice Worlds Greatest Pram Stroll is a program of the People and Parks Foundation.

The People and Parks Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation on the Register of Environmental Organisations.

People and Parks is an environmental education organisation which works to improve people's physical & mental wellbeing and foster social connectedness through park experiences by connecting people to parks.

The World's Greatest Pram Stroll is a Healthy Parks Healthy People activity, a program promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging people to use parks as a venue for healthy activities.

The first World's Greatest Pram Stroll was held in Albert Park, Victoria in 2002 and has grown to an annual event which attracted 5,000 mums, dads and their families simultaneously strolling at one of the 24 local or regional parks for the event in 2006.

Donations of $2 or more to the People and Parks Foundation are tax deductible. www.peopleandparks.org

- Parks are great for our physical and mental wellbeing and are great places to meet friends and exercise.


Objectives

- Raise awareness of the issues of social isolation for new mums and reinforce that parks are a great place to meet and get healthy.
- Raise awareness of the People and Parks Foundation and appreciation of the parks and natural environment.
- Promote the Healthy Parks, Healthy People program aiming to create greater understanding of the relationship between a healthy park system and the health of the community.
- To increase awareness of the resources available to assist new mums.
- To provide an opportunity for new families to establish new relationships and to feel connected to their community
- Create new opportunities for the Foundation to increase our ability to deliver our mission and carry out research into the links between the natural environment and mental health.
