FEEL BLUE, TOUCH GREEN!
Thousands of families turned out in parks all across Victoria for this year’s Mother’s Choice World’s Greatest Pram stroll held on Sunday morning as part of Walktober and Baby Week!
From Berwick to Bacchus Marsh and Albert Park in between, families came out to support the People and Parks Foundation’s annual event which is part of their FEEL BLUE, TOUCH GREEN initiative that raises awareness amongst new families of the importance of connecting with communities and introducing their children to nature in parks for their health and wellbeing.

Channel 10’s Kim Watkins, hubby Simon and three children were on hand at Albert Park reinforcing the great times that can be had for families in parks and the role they play in reducing social isolation and Post Natal Depression. “With one in seven women experiencing PND after childbirth, this event is a way that shows there are people out there who can help – you don’t need to go it alone,” Watkins said.
CEO of the People and Parks Foundation, Jenny Holliday reinforced the role the Mother’s Choice World’s Greatest Pram Stroll plays in getting people out and about and experiencing the simply joys of being amongst others and getting the grass between your toes. “While there were many bikes out today across the state, baby’s also enjoyed a day on wheels; kicking their feet up while mums, dads, grandparents and carers had a great day out with a bit of exercise and lots of smiles; sometimes we forget to just take a walk in the park!”
“Our FEEL BLUE, TOUCH GREEN programs are about just that; enhancing physical and mental health and wellbeing through nature,” Holliday said.
A program of the People and Parks Foundation, the event will again see mums, dads, grandparents and carers from across the country join together for some fun, fitness and fresh air in our great parks!
This is the seventh year of this annual event in parks around the country and its aim is to raise awareness of the importance of socialisation and active recreation for new mums and dads as well as providing information on local support, resources available and post natal depression.
Again this year, there will be strolls around the country as more and more parents and local councils realise the benefit of this great event.
